Washington: Donald Trump has won the US presidential election. He has been elected the 47th President of America. Days before he was re-elected for a second term as President, many people expressed their anger against him on social media. However, some women have adopted a unique form of protest to express their pain and disappointment over President-elect Trump’s victory.
According to a report in The Telegraph, many women have vowed to go on a sex strike after Trump’s victory in the election, fearing its impact on abortion rights and women’s safety. This unusual protest is inspired by the Korean feminist ‘4B movement’, which advocates taking sex away from men in order to redefine the gender power balance.

What is 4B movement?
The ‘4B’ movement originated in South Korea in 2019 – where women took a new approach towards fighting patriarchy by vowing to “stay away from men” and refusing to be part of heterosexual relationships. Its supporters promote four ‘no’s’ – no sex (biseksu), no dating (byeonae), no marriage (bihon) and no having children with men (bichulsan) – for the next four years until Trump Are on post.
Why is the ‘4B’ movement spreading in America?
The ‘4B’ movement began as a result of gender-based violence in South Korea and women asserted that through protest the country’s birth rate would decrease and the population would gradually depopulate. This movement spread like wildfire through social media and women decided to end romantic relationships with men.
Trump’s victory has given rise to fears about restrictions on women’s reproductive rights and other protections. Vice President Kamala Harris also alleged during the election campaign that Trump wanted to impose many restrictions on women and wanted to eliminate abortion completely. Trump has also been repeatedly accused of making objectionable comments on women.
