Washington: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has made a big announcement on Monday. Trump announced that he has added former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan to his administration. Trump said in his announcement that Tom Homan would join his administration as his “border czar” and would be in charge of “deporting illegal aliens to their countries of origin.” He further said that Homan will be in charge of US borders and “there is no one better than him at controlling our borders.”
Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, “I am pleased to announce that former ICE Director and Border Control veteran Tom Homan will be joining the Trump Administration and serving as the new Governor of our nation’s borders (“Border Czar”). Will handle the responsibility, this includes southern border, northern border, all maritime and aviation security.

Who is Tom Homan?
Homan was the public face of Trump’s “zero tolerance” immigration policies during his first term, which prohibited the practice of keeping families together during detention and deportation proceedings. As a result, thousands of undocumented migrant children were separated from their family members, sparking a widespread response.
In a recent interview with CBS News, Homan downplayed the possibility of similar impacts if Trump’s plan for mass deportation of undocumented immigrants takes shape, saying that “families could be deported together.” “This is not like doing a massive neighborhood cleanup,” Homan said. This is not like building a concentration camp. I have read it all. This is ridiculous.”
However, Trump and his team have not explained how they plan to accomplish the effort, which will require substantial funding from Congress and cooperation from countries willing to accept returning migrants. Still, aides have said Trump will move quickly to reverse President Joe Biden’s immigration policies, using executive authorities to curtail pathways for migrants to apply for asylum.
