MumbaiTwinkle Khanna, who left acting and became a writer, has shared an anecdote about the telephone used in the 80s. He told that whenever his acquaintances used to come to his house, people used to ask whether his phone had STD facility or not. Twinkle shared a picture of herself on Instagram and wrote, “Friends, flatmates and budding CID detectives, listen to me carefully.” In the caption of this picture, he linked STD in the phone with SDT of the disease.
Twinkle Khanna wrote, “In the 80s, there was a big trunk in a corner of our living room which contained a coffee mug full of pens and an ashtray. There was a chair where there was a statue of a god. God was worshiped every day. Apart from this there was a black telephone. Relatives and friends would come to ask, ‘Please tell me, you have the STD number, right?'”

STD also means sexually transmitted disease.
Twinkle further wrote that STD does not mean sexually transmitted disease. He wrote, “This is not as strange as it sounds because they used to ask about syphilis or gonorrhea, but rather whether our phones have the super power to make long distance calls (STDs). Tell me, what was the funniest thing that happened to you at that time when every house had only one phone?”
