Indians living in America are seen as one of the most prestigious communities in the society there. Among them, education, earning, living standards, everything is better than the average Americans. At present, about 40 lakh Indian people live in America. But, due to the actions of a few Indians, such a large community is facing embarrassment. In such a situation, America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has got an excuse. He can curse Indians on this pretext. In fact, before assuming power in America, Donald Trump has indicated that he will further tighten the policy of sending back illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, the annual report of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for 2024 released on December 19 states that this year, 2,647 Indians have been arrested on charges of immigration violations and all of them are likely to be deported.

These violations, in most cases, involve overstaying a visa or entering the United States illegally. According to the report, India ranks fourth among the countries whose citizens have been arrested the most, while the first three places are occupied by Mexico (5,089), Honduras (2,957) and Guatemala (2,713), which are located near the US. ICE is planning to deport these individuals and may use special chartered flights for this. Agency sources said ICE has a list of 18,000 Indians against whom there are removal orders, and of these, 2,647 Indians are currently in custody.

According to ICE data, by November 2024, 17,940 Indians are included in the list of people against whom final deportation orders have been issued.
