Questions raised on demand of ₹ 5 crore from Nayanthara, makers issued NOC letter, mention of these timing conditions included

Mumbai. On Nayanthara’s 40th birthday, a documentary series based on her life ‘Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale’ remained in a lot of controversies. Dhanush had staked a claim of Rs 10 crore regarding this. Fighting a legal battle regarding the content. At the same time, recently there were reports of the makers of Rajinikanth starrer blockbuster film ‘Chandramukhi’ demanding Rs 5 crore, on which the makers of ‘Chandramukhi’ have issued a NOC letter. Film critic and trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan has shared this on her X handle.

The NOC letter shared by Manobala Vijayabalan was given to Nayanthara by Shivaji Productions. There is no mention of the money demanded by Shivaji Productions from Rowdy Pictures in the NOC letter. Rowdy Pictures is owned by Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan. The NOC letter reads, “This is to certify that Shivaji Productions has no objection to the use of the footage in the Netflix documentary “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale”.

The timing of how many seconds of clip is to be used is also mentioned in the NOC letter. After this it is written, “We confirm that Rowdy Pictures is given permission to use, recreate and distribute the above mentioned video footage exclusively in the Netflix series named “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale”.

The NOC further said, “We also wish to state that we will not involve Rowdy Pictures (its associated people, companies/entities and assignees) in any dispute or case arising out of the use of this video footage under the NOC.” Before this, Nayanthara was also embroiled in a legal battle with Dhanush regarding her documentary.

Nayanthara had reacted to the controversy with Dhanush in an open letter on 16 November 2024 and openly criticized him. He used some clips in the documentary from the 2015 film ‘Naanam Rowdy Dhaan’ made in Dhanush’s production house. This film was directed by Vignesh and Nayanthara was in the lead role. Dhanush claims that Nayanthara used the video without taking permission from him, for this he demanded Rs 10 crore from Nayanthara.
