CUDDALORE: A special court handling cases booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012, sentenced a 50-year-old man for sexually assaulting his two minor daughters, aged 17 years and 15 years, in a village near Cuddalore.
Sessions judge (Pocso Special Court) S T Lakshmi Ramesh imposed a fine of Rs 1.1 lakh on the man.
According to the prosecution, the man and his wife were working in a private firm in Dubai while his two daughters stayed in his native village with his mother. His wife fell ill, and he returned to India with her. The couple reached their native village. Within a few days, his wife died.
His elder daughter joined a private college while his younger daughter was pursuing Class X in a govt school. He sexually assaulted his elder daughter on several occasions. He also assaulted his younger daughter.
Unable to bear the physical and mental torture, the siblings lodged a complaint with the Cuddalore all-women police, following which he was arrested.
