Chennai press club: Madras high court dismisses one more plea seeking to stall election scheduled for Dec 15

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Friday dismissed another petition seeking to stall the elections to the Chennai Press Club, scheduled for December 15, which are being conducted after a delay of 25 years.
Dismissing the plea moved by a member of the club, A S Mani, Justice S Sounthar observed that it is open for the petitioner to challenge the results of the election.
The petitioner moved the plea on the grounds that several names of members of the club were omitted from the voters’ list released by the club.
When the plea came up for hearing, representing the club, Senior Advocate P Wilson submitted that yesterday a single judge of the court dismissed a civil suit seeking to stall the election.
Recording the submissions, the judge observed that if the petitioner is aggrieved by any violation in the conduct of the election, he can move a plea challenging the result of the election.
