Trump will take oath as President next monthJaishankar met future officials on his visit to AmericaNecessary to bind China’s spreading wings and keep an eye on it
New Delhi. Only a few days are left for Joe Biden’s departure from the White House in Washington DC. Here, America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has announced names for important posts. Even before Trump takes oath as President on January 20, India has started preparing its strategy. To once again rekindle the past heat between Modi and Trump and turn it afresh in India’s interest, Country Minister S. Jaishankar has gone to America.
Here he not only met the current US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, but also met Trump Admin’s Tim Waltz and other officials who are to take over the Trump office next month. Waltz, 50, will become National Security Advisor on January 20, replacing Jake Sullivan. On November 12, Trump announced that Waltz would be his national security advisor.
Trump has included new and sharp people in his administration who support anti-India countries like Tulsi Gabbard, JD Vance and Elon Musk, but he has chosen Marco Rubio and Mike Waltz for the Foreign Minister and NSA. Both of them are staunch supporters of China, but Rubio has also been a supporter of India-US relations.
There is no conflict between the interests of India and America…
China’s proposal to build the world’s largest dam in Tibet has been approved. He is continuously busy strengthening his military power. India cannot ignore such changes and circumstances. Obviously America also would not want China’s strength. Waltz is no stranger to India-US relations.
Waltz is also the Republican co-chair of the Congressional India Caucus, the largest country-specific caucus in the US House of Representatives. Waltz was the leader of the Congress delegation to India in August last year. He also participated in the Independence Day celebrations of the Red Fort. He has been a staunch supporter of many India-friendly laws in the US House of Representatives.
Delighted to meet Rep. @michaelgwaltz this evening.
Enjoyed a wide-ranging conversation on our bilateral partnership as well as current global issues. Look forward to working with him.
