New Delhi: In its second part of heritage walks, the heritage cell of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) organised a lecture on Dara Shikoh at the historic Town Hall in Chandni Chowk on Saturday.
“It was , ‘Alamgirnamah,’ the court history of Aurangzeb, which acted as a beacon and led to the discovery of the tomb of Dara Shikoh lying beside the tomb of Akbar’s sons Daniyal and Murad in Humayun’s Tomb,” said executive engineer of MCD and historian Sanjeev Kumar Singh. Before the lecture, MCD commissioner Ashwani Kumar inspected the Town Hall building. “The Town Hall is an integral and important part of Delhi’s history. Preserving its rich heritage is a sign of a conscious society. MCD will make every possible effort to preserve its heritage,” said Kumar.
Citizens can participate in the heritage events without prior registration, which makes it accessible to all history and culture enthusiasts. The heritage walks will take place on the first and third Saturdays of each month, starting at either 8 am or 11.30 am.
