Everyone seems scared about the possible policies of America’s elected President Donald Trump. Even before assuming power, he has indicated that he can take a very tough stance on many things. There are many things like relations with China, America’s role in the Ukraine-Russia war, cracking down on bureaucracy at the domestic level, about which various kinds of speculations are being made.
But, amid all these things, Donald Trump is likely to take very tough decisions regarding America’s immigration policy and illegal immigrants living in America. He will take over the post of President in the month of January. In such a situation, even the educational institutions there seem to be scared due to their possible strict policies.
fear of deportation
According to a BBC report, American educational institutions and universities are calling their foreign students and staff and asking them to return to America immediately. It has been said that after Donald Trump becomes President, a large number of people can be deported from America. These will be those people who do not have valid documents to reside in America or whose documents are not complete.
BBC has quoted Professor Chloe East of University of Colorado Denver as saying that all the international students are scared. He said that Trump and his party have said that they will run the largest deportation drive in history. If necessary, help will also be taken from the US Army.
According to the report, there are more than four lakh children in higher educational institutions of America whose documents are not complete. Border Czar Tom Homan in the Trump government says that criminals and people who are dangerous to national security will be the first to be deported from the country. Professor East said that children are very scared of the possible policies of the Trump government. They are worried about their visa. They are also scared about whether they will be able to complete their further studies or not.
Just last month, the University of Massachusetts has issued a travel advisory for its international students. In this, students and staff who went to their home country during winter break have been asked to try to return to America before January 20. Trump will take command of the new government on January 20 itself.
