‘Don’t stop my earning…’ When questions were raised on soft drink ad, the superstar gave a suitable answer

New Delhi: Shahrukh Khan has been in the headlines due to his outspoken views and statements on any issue. He once broke his silence on the allegation of supporting soft drinks. Soft drinks are something that many people believe is very harmful for children. Shahrukh Khan had questioned that why are you objecting to celebrities promoting soft drinks and cigarettes, while their sale and production is allowed.

In an interview given to ‘CNN-IBN’, Shahrukh Khan raised questions on the logic of targeting celebrities and appealed that if cold drinks are really harmful then their production should be completely banned. On the appeal of not advertising Cola, Shahrukh Khan had said, ‘I will appeal to the authority to ban it. Don’t let it be sold in our country. If you think it is bad for children, then ban it. Smoking is wrong, so do not allow cigarette production in the country. If you think cold drink is bad, then don’t let it be sold. If it is poisoning our people, then do not let it be made in India.

Shahrukh Khan expressed his views with logic
Shahrukh Khan had further said, ‘See, my argument is that you are not stopping it because you get revenue from it. Let’s be honest about this. If you think some products are harmful then you are not stopping them, but they are revenue for the government. Don’t stop my profits. I am an actor. I have to do a job and earn profit from it. If you think something is wrong, stop it. There is no problem.

When Shahrukh Khan raised legitimate questions
Megastar spoke openly on showing smoking in cinema. He said that smoking can cause many health related problems. People should pay attention to them. The big thing is that if you smoke today, what tomorrow? The art form should be left alone. Now it is not that you will start smoking because an actor does so. This is a very minor health related problem. I believe that the powers that be should focus on bigger health issues than smoking in films.
