Recently, there was an uproar over Diljit in Punjab for spelling ‘A’ instead of ‘U’. Actor and singer Diljit had expressed his opinion on this controversy in a very unique way. He wrote a long message, which also explained how complex the English language can be, especially for people whose first language is not English.
He wrote, ‘Punjabi, if I did not put the Indian flag while writing ‘Punjab’, it would be considered a conspiracy. In a tweet from Bengaluru, I wrote ‘Punjab’ and forgot to mention the Indian flag, so it became a conspiracy.
Diljit further said, ‘If you write ‘A’ instead of ‘U’ in the spelling of Punjab, it will remain the same. Punjab – 5 rivers. Well done to those who hatch conspiracies in English. How many times must we prove that we love India? Bring something new, or do you get paid for plotting?
The superstar has made a tremendous mark in Hindi and Punjabi cinema in recent years with the huge success of his films. He performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2023, thus becoming the first Indian artist to achieve this feat. In April 2024, Punjabi artist A.P. Dhillon also performed in this festival. Diljit is scheduled to conclude the India leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour in Ludhiana on December 31.
