He gave a controversial statement on the work culture of the office. He said in a statement that there should be 90 hours of work in a week in the office. He also advocated for the employees to work on Sunday. While talking about L&T’s policy of working 6 days a week, he started the debate on balancing work and life. Deepika Padukone has reacted on this.
Deepika Padukone, while sharing journalist Faye D’Souza, objected to SN Subramanian’s statement and called it shocking. He wrote, “Such statements by people holding such senior positions are shocking. “Mental health matters.” Deepika talked about the mental health of employees due to this type of policy.

He encouraged employees to give priority to work, asking, “For how long can you see your wife?” In the video going viral on Reddit, he can be seen saying, “I am sorry that I am not able to make you work on Sunday. If I could get you to work on Sunday, I would be more than happy because I work on Sunday.”
SS Subramanian cited a discussion he had with a Chinese person in support of his thought. He claimed that the man credited China’s ability to overtake the United States to its workers, who work 90 hours per week while American workers typically work 50 hours. Subramanian said, “If you want to be on top in the world, you have to work 90 hours a week.”
