Rangoli of Chhatrapati Shivaji: Under a unique initiative, a world record rangoli was prepared on the birth anniversary of Rajmata Jijau in Varananagar, Kolhapur. 35 tons of rangoli powder has been used to make it.

Niranjan Kamat/Kolhapur: On the special occasion of Rajmata Jijau Jayanti, a unique and historic event took place in Varananagar in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. Here, a grand rangoli of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was made in an area of ​​11 acres, which is now going to be a part of the world record.

The specialty of this rangoli is its vastness. 35 tonnes of rangoli powder was used for this rangoli spread over approximately four and a half lakh square feet. 350 women and students took part in making it with full dedication. This rangoli was made on the initiative of Vinay Kore, MLA of Panhala Shahuwadi assembly constituency of Kolhapur.

Result of 20 days of hard work
It took about 15 to 20 days to prepare this amazing rangoli. The concept of making Rangoli was of teacher Sameer Kale, who worked tirelessly to make it a reality. This rangoli has been made in the premises of Tatyasaheb Kore Military School located in Nave Pargaon, which people can also see through the big screen.

This achievement will be recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records
Kolhapur Collector Amol Yedge and officials of Guinness Book of World Records were present in this event. Officials started the process of registering this grand rangoli as the world’s largest rangoli. This achievement will also be recorded in India Book of Records, International Book of Records, and World Book of Records.

Chhatrapati Shivaji’s permanent image becomes center of attraction
A permanent replica of Shivarai has also been made through Rangoli, which is mesmerizing the audience. This grand event has set a new record not only at the local level but in the entire country.
