New Delhi: Soon after AAP national convener announced the registration of the Mahila Samman scheme, New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj said that the AAP supremo had presented a bundle of lies, as a similar scheme announced by his govt in Punjab had never got implemented.
Swaraj said: “Kejriwal promised Rs 2,100 per month to women, but even before the Lok Sabha elections, he announced Rs 1,000 per month for women, filled out forms, and yet didn’t disburse even a single rupee.”
She said AAP govt had announced a similar scheme in Punjab in 2022, but until the end of Dec 2024, no woman in Punjab had received any funds. “For Arvind Kejriwal, women’s respect is just an election gimmick,” she said. “Kejriwal should respond over why his private secretary, at his residence, physically assaulted MP Swati Maliwal and why he maintained silence on this incident,” she said. “Why was the private secretary promoted to an advisory position in Punjab govt?” she asked.
She also targeted AAP govt for not implementing central health schemes. “Kejriwal never implemented the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi due to his political vendetta. If he couldn’t do justice to senior citizens with this scheme, how can he claim to ensure their welfare now,” she said.
“The Sanjeevani scheme is also an election stunt. Even though the scheme’s entire cost is covered by central govt… it remains unimplemented in Delhi,” she said.
Swaraj said it was odd why Kejriwal was now concerned about senior citizens after governing for 10 years. TNN
