Another plea to stall Chennai Press Club polls binned | Chennai News

Chennai: Madras high court has dismissed another petition seeking to stall the elections to the Chennai Press Club, scheduled for Dec 15, which are being conducted after a delay of 25 years.
Dismissing the plea moved by a member of the club, A S Mani on Friday, Justice S Sounthar observed that it would be open for the petitioner to challenge the results of the election.
The petitioner, who claimed to be senior editor of Naveena Netrikan magazine, moved the plea on the grounds that several names of members of the club were omitted from the voters’ list released by the club.
When the plea came up for hearing, senior advocate P Wilson assisted by advocate Richardson Wilson, representing the special guidance committee of the club, submitted that on Wednesday a single judge of the court dismissed a civil suit seeking to stall the election.
Wilson argued that elections have not been conducted for the club in the past 25 years and that various people are being set up to stall the elections scheduled on Dec 15.
“Only 2 days ago another person moved the original side of the court and the suit was dismissed as withdrawn after the court expressed its mind to dismiss the suit in limine,” he said.
After hearing all sides, the court dismissed the writ petition with liberty to work out remedy after the conclusion of the election process.
