CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu minority affairs minister S M Nasar said the secret alliance of the AIADMK with the BJP was exposed when the party refused to sign a resolution moved by the opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha. The resolution demanded the impeachment of Allahabad high court judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav for making derogatory remarks against Muslims at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad event.
In a statement on Friday, Nasar said the AIADMK had betrayed the Muslim community once again by refusing to support the resolution against the high court judge for engaging in ‘hate speech’ and ‘inciting communal disharmony’. Fifty five opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha on Friday gave notice for moving a motion to impeach him.
The minister said the DMK members signed supporting the resolution following a direction from chief minister M K Stalin, while the four AIADMK members did not sign the resolution.
He said the DMK, whether in power or not, had always fought for the rights of the minority communities. He said Stalin openly declared that the party would never join hands with communal forces.
“The AIADMK, which claims to have parted ways with the BJP, continues to remain in a secret alliance with the saffron party,” Nasar said.
He pointed out that the AIADMK had earlier voted in favour of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and acted against the interests of the minority communities.
He said the AIADMK had failed to raise its voice against the high court justice who used divisive words, terming Muslims as ‘dangerous people who lack kindness and tolerance’.
Former chief minister and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, who claimed that AIADMK was the only party protecting Muslims, lost his false image, and his true face was exposed.
