AIADMK general council meet today; aims to plan for victory | Chennai News

Chennai: The AIADMK general council, led by general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, is scheduled to meet in Chennai on Sunday. The meeting aims to roll out plans for the party’s victory in the 2026 assembly election. The party is also likely to pass resolutions to condemn the state govt on various issues, including the alleged failure to prevent the awarding of tungsten mining rights in Madurai district.
The supreme body is holding its annual session as per the election commission mandate. The meeting comes against the backdrop of the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
“Palaniswami is set to enthuse the cadres to work hard and lay the foundation for the assembly election, which is just a year away. Given the increased vote share in LS polls, the leader will also announce forging a grand alliance for the election,” said a senior leader. The AIADMK has, however, excluded the BJP from this potential coalition.
