A teacher changed the picture of the village, here third class children speak fluent English.

There is a village in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh where children of third, fourth and fifth classes speak English fluently. This village is Devlamafi, and behind this change is government primary school teacher Hariom Bhilala, whose hard work and dedication has made this small school an example.

Shortage of teachers, but no lack of dedication
The shortage of teachers in government schools of Khandwa district is not hidden from anyone. In the entire district, in proportion to the number of children in schools, in some places only one and in some places two teachers are available. The government primary school of Devlamafi is struggling with this problem, where a total of 42 children study from classes 1 to 5. But the school does not even have a principal and only one teacher, Hariom Bhilala, is working. Despite this, their hard work and dedication not only helped the children progress in their studies but also made them confident and fluent English speakers.

How did this change happen?
After joining the school in 2014, Hariom Bhilala understood the potential of the children and made changes in the method of education. After identifying the level of the children, the teaching method was adopted according to them. Also, by understanding the children’s home and their environment, he established communication with them and tried to teach them.

Teacher Hariom says that reading and teaching is my habit. I tried to improve this process of learning and teaching with children. When teachers make their work a habit, the results are excellent.

Parents and community support
Initially the number of children in the village was less, but when parents saw the improvement in the education level of their children, their interest in education also increased. Today, children in the first grade have started reading books in Hindi, and students in the third to fifth grades speak English fluently. When parents see their children making such progress, they praise teacher Hariom wholeheartedly.

Education Department also praised
Hariom Bhilala’s initiative has been appreciated not only by the parents but also by senior officials of the education department. The dedication and discipline of the children has taken the school to 100% attendance.

Mantra of Hariom:
Teaching should be started from the level the children are at. If you work by understanding their needs and weaknesses, the results are always positive.

One teacher, one change
This school of Devlamafi shows that even if there is a lack of facilities and teachers, if a teacher performs his duty with full sincerity, the light of education can be spread far and wide. This story of Hariom Bhilala is an inspiration for every teacher.
