MUMBAI: Two persons, including a Western Railway technician from Virar Car Shed, were arrested for running a fake railway recruitment racket.
The scam was uncovered by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway after a suspicious email was received by the Principal Chief Security Commissioner’s office on 28 November 2024.
Investigations revealed the accused, Sanjay Shukla, a Western Railway technician, and Rohit Singh, forged govt documents, spoofed official email IDs, and collected money from unemployed individuals by promising them govt jobs in the Railways.
Based on evidence, the RPF traced and apprehended the accused. A complaint was registered with the Government Railway Police (GRP), CSMT, under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, forgery, and using forged documents.
Central Railway urged job seekers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent such scams.
