Chennai: BJP state president K Annamalai on Tuesday made an unexpected U-turn, suggesting there might be a possibility of forging an alliance with AIADMK.
Addressing reporters here, Annamalai said, “BJP is clear that DMK should be abolished from Tamil Nadu. Whether we do it by joining hands with opposition parties or by strengthening the existing alliance is the question. Anything is possible. Our objective is to strengthen our party in the state.”
Asked about AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami‘s stand that his party will not align with the BJP, Annamalai said, “There is still time. Wait and watch.”
He said the 2026 assembly election in TN will be different.
“In 2026, we are expecting a different and new political field. We are expecting that Dravidian parties cannot form govt on their own and there is a possibility that a non-Dravidian party might form govt. We too have a strong alliance. Even people want change, and it will be visible only by the political developments that happen in 2025.”
