New Delhi: Rajya Sabha witnessed heated exchanges between AAP member Sanjay Singh and leader of the House JP Nadda on Tuesday after the former accused BJP of conspiring to get names deleted on a massive scale from the voters list in Delhi as well as working to topple govts in opposition-led states.
Sharing its video clip on X, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal said Nadda calling the Purvanchalis Rohingya, Bangladeshi and infiltrators will prove costly to BJP. “Today he (Nadda) admitted in the House that BJP is deleting the votes of the Purvanchali brothers of Delhi by calling them Rohingya…,” Kejriwal posted on X.
Nadda said the process to delete names in voters list was laid down in the Constitution itself.
During the debate on the “Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India”, Singh claimed that applications for the removal of the names of many Hindus voters had been submitted by BJP. These voters are neither Bangladeshis nor Rohingyas, he said.
Singh also called upon BJP to not fan polarisation in Delhi. The remarks triggered angry protests from the treasury benches, with Nadda and environment minister Bhupender Yadav rising to defend their party.
“We (BJP) were elected in MP for the fifth time. We formed govt in UP for the second time consecutively. We had a landslide victory in Maharashtra…The time is not far when we will come (to power) in Delhi as well,” Nadda said. TNN
