Thane: Two unidentified persons executed a heist at a jewellery shop located in B-Cabin, stealing over 5 kilograms of gold. Police officials estimate the total value of the stolen ornaments to exceed Rs 5 crore.
As of the last reports, the police were assessing the total gold stolen, and the case was being registered.
The police said that the robbery involved a meticulously planned. Between 1.30am and 4am on Tuesday, the perpetrators first broke the lock of the door leading to the steps and subsequently forced open the shutter to gain access to the shop’s interior, said the police officer.
A striking aspect of the theft is that the stolen ornaments were displayed openly, diverging from standard security practices where jewellers typically secure valuable items in safes. This unusual circumstance potentially facilitated the robbers’ swift and extensive theft, said a police officer. Multiple investigative teams were deployed to identify and apprehend the culprits. The process of registering an official case is underway, with authorities conducting a comprehensive investigation to trace the stolen gold and determine the full circumstances of the robbery.
