For most Delhiites, brunches on lazy winter weekends are probably one of the most awaited and cherished things about December. And Dilip and Devi Cherian’s Christmas brunch was exactly that. With their annual do, the couple rang in the holiday season. “It’s not Christmas in Delhi until the Cherians have hosted this party here,” guests were overheard saying as they spent hours chatting with friends in the open lawn.

A GUEST LIST THAT HAS REMAINED THE SAME FOR YEARS
From politicians, fashion designers, and lawyers to entrepreneurs and diplomats, the party drew the creme de la creme of Delhi, featuring names that have graced the guestlist for many years. Devi shared that for years, there’s hardly anything that has changed at their Christmas bash. “From the guest list to even the menu, almost everything has remained the same at this party. I was preparing for this for a week now, but it’s been a very hectic party season in Delhi. I have friends all over and I retain my friends. I think Delhiites are very broad minded, they keep their friendships intact. We have so many politicians here and outside they may have different affiliations, but when they come here they sit together and enjoy as friends and I think that has always been the best part about this party. I have a mix of people from different spheres and it has always been like that,” said Devi, perfectly dressed for the occasion in a red skirt, white jacket and silver boots. Dilip added that “some guests have specially flown to Delhi today to be a part of this party.”

STICKING TO A DRESS CODE
Like most Christmas parties, ‘a dash of red’ was the dress code and guests ensured that they turned up in their best versions of red. “I had to go through my wardrobe to find something red for the party, something that looks perfect,” said politician Shahnawaz Hussain. Unlike other years, Dilip wasn’t in his red pullover this time and many guests commented, “Humein lal pehnakar khud hara pehenkar ghoom rahe hain,” until he got a red jacket from home to complete the look.
