New Delhi: A car driven by a 17-year-old boy struck and injured multiple people, including a seven-year-old boy, in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Monday.
Police received a PCR call regarding a car accident. A team from the local police station rushed to the spot and found the offending vehicle in a damaged condition.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the vehicle collided with pedestrians, injuring two people. It was further revealed that the injured were taken to the hospital by their family members. The scene of the incident was inspected by a crime team. The vehicle was taken into police possession.
It was found that 55-year-old Rajesh Kumar Kamra, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, along with his seven-year-old grandson, were injured.
A disturbing video of the incident surfaced, providing a chilling account of the events that unfolded. The footage shows four individuals standing and engaged in conversation when, without warning, a white car loses control. The vehicle first collides with a scooter, sending it crashing to the ground, before careening into the group of pedestrians.
The impact is severe, and the car only comes to a stop after hitting the pedestrians. As the video continues to roll, the sounds of chaos and panic fill the air. A woman’s anguished screams of “My child, my child!” can be heard, sending a chill down the spine.
The footage then shows a group of people rushing to the scene, gathering around the car as they attempt to process the devastation. The woman, visibly distraught and crying uncontrollably, is seen being comforted by onlookers. Others are shown trying to calm her down, offering what little support they can in the face of such tragedy.
Based on the statement of the injured, a case was registered under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way) and 125A (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of BNS.
During the investigation, the driver of the offending vehicle (age 17) was apprehended, and legal action against the owner of the vehicle is also being taken.
