Chennai: A 25-year-old woman suffered injuries on Saturday after her ex-boyfriend attacked her with stones in Valasaravakkam. The man, R Sriram, was arrested.
The woman, a native of Mayiladuthurai and working as an accountant executive in Valasaravakkam, broke up with Sriram, a former classmate from their master’s degree programme, last month due to his “troubling behaviour”.
After the break-up, Sriram persistently harassed and stalked her. He repeatedly called her, even after she blocked his number, and began following her home over the past week, demanding they get back together. Despite her refusal, Sriram refused to accept her decision and continued his obsessive behaviour.
On Saturday, Sriram went to her house and verbally abused her. When she ignored him and stayed inside, he began throwing stones at her window. One of the stones struck her head, causing an injury.
The woman lodged a police complaint, prompting the Valasaravakkam police to arrest Sriram. He was remanded in judicial custody.
