Mumbai: Rev. Fr Thomas Francis D’souza was ordained as the new bishop of the diocese of Vasai at St Augustine’s School grounds Sunday. Archbishop of Bombay Oswald Cardinal Gracias was the principal consecrator at the ceremony with other senior archbishops and priests in attendance.
Vasai has a population of 1.2 lakh Catholics divided into 40 parishes. Bp Thomas earlier served as parish priest at Holy Spirit Church, Nandakhal. He is the third bishop of Vasai after Thomas Dabre and Felix Machado. Vishal Rajemahadik
