Chennai: School education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said there were no dues pending from the school education department to BSNL, refuting charges made by BJP state president K Annamalai.
Annamalai had said on X Sunday that around 3,700 govt schools were at the risk of losing internet connection because govt did not clear dues to BSNL.
Speaking to the media, Poyyamozhi denied the charge and said the govt has cleared all bills and that there was no threat of disconnection. He also said that though BJP-led Union govt has not released the 2,151crore fund meant for Tamil Nadu school education department, the state govt had managed to meet all expenses.
Earlier, Annamalai had made another post alleging that dues for internet services in 385 district education offices across state had not been paid for months, as a result of which connections were cut. He asked CM Stalin to clarify if the state govt has gone bankrupt. Poyyamizhi had denied this charge too.
